Made possible by the generosity of more than 500 individual, foundation and corporate supporters, Magnolia Place Family Center will serve as a community hub for at-risk families and provide comprehensive programs and services in four areas which experts agree are key to strengthening families: nurturing parenting, economic stability, good health and school readiness. Children's Bureau and our in-house community partners (St. John's Well Child and Family Center, County of Los Angeles/LA County Helps, Public Counsel, and Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment), offer families: access to quality medical and dental care; a comprehensive child development center; classes on parenting, child care, and family economics; mental health services; legal assistance; foster care and adoption; and Los Angeles County services. We are also a gathering place for the community to meet, share and socialize with their families and neighbors.

Every day at Children’s Bureau we strive to create a world where all children grow up with endless possibilities and potential. We help strengthen families with young children and the communities in which they live by focusing our efforts on four interlocking goals: nurturing parenting, school readiness, good health and economic stability.

Children’s Bureau has expertise in areas such as school readiness, parenting, family resource centers, support groups, mental health counseling, foster care, adoption and more. Additionally, Children’s Bureau conducts research and advocates for improved public policies.

Mission and Vision

Children's Bureau is committed to providing vulnerable children -- especially in the early years -- the foundation necessary to become caring and productive adults by:

  • Preventing child abuse and neglect;

  • Protecting, nurturing and treating abused children;

  • Enhancing the potential of families and communities to meet the needs of their children;

  • Advancing the welfare of children and families through superior programs in foster care, adoptions, child development, parent education, mental health, research and advocacy.

Our vision is to significantly change the lives of at-risk children by providing state-of-the-art child abuse prevention and treatment services. While increasing the scope, depth and volume of services, we will engage in continuous discovery through research to determine and implement what works and be a passionate advocate on behalf of children and families.
